It was an older suit and by doing so, the trousers are now much more fashionable and I can wear them with different Blazers etc. It’s inexpensive, but a great way to be up-to-date and getting your trousers more bespoke.

This is where back of the trouser leg is cut to hang lower than the front. This means you can have less of a break but there’s no danger of looking like your shoes and trousers have had an argument.

How well a man’s trousers fit say as much to me as shoes do. Its such an overlooked aspect, even by guys who do dress well. Every single pair of trousers I own has been through the tailors.

Amen to that Don.

I rarely wear a belt unless I’ve lost a little too much weight and they’re falling down!

A few questions though James, I’m an athletic lad and have fairly sizable quads and, well, a squatters arse (I’ve worked for it!). What style of trouser would you recommend me wearing as I often find off-the-peg trousers totally inadequate? I also have an issue with general wear and bobbling of the material between my thighs, aside from losing a little size is there a style/material I should sway towards?

Thanks

As Albert I am wearing a belt with a suit, while the belt color is similar to the shoes.

Especially if one is very tall a belt helps to break the tall appearance.

For example the look with a navy blue suit, brown shoes, brown belt and a reddish tie looks awesome. (See also the guide about the color wheel and contrasting colors.

I was under the impressions a belt should be worn with everything other than black tie. I always wear a belt with a suit that is a similar shade to my shoes.

You must have covered nearly every detail which is a great help. On saturday last week I were faced with the question how much my new trousers shall be shortened and if the trouser-legs shall be closer to mine, when I visited my tailor. This made me think of how short a trouser should be and I’m glad that you’ve answered my question. God let it be that my decision on saturday -without this knowledge- was right…
