Excuse me but I think Fashionbeans and its ilk have to take some responsibility here what with its advice about capsule wardrobes, classic items and 10 ways to wear this and that. More to the point isn’t the paradox in fashion that the more people try and express their individuality the more they look the same. Historically fashion has always adopted uniforms – Teddy Boys, Mods, Hippies- and even in the post modern age we seem we are incapable of saying something new because many of our ideas (and emotions) come from the culture we inhabit. That is why very few people in history have said or done anything generally original – it’s really hard to do. The other day I walked out in boot cut jeans crocs a cycling top and pants on my head only to discover that someone in Albania had beaten me to it. So next time you see someone in the bar with the same outfit just relax and embrace the delusion of your individuality and hold up your pint and say cheers.

I’m with Vou, man. I dropped 20lg in 2 weeks by going for cardio and Ketosis. 2 years later I’m even lighter, I know my carb balance, I’m not afraid of potatoes, and I’m kind of sick of people telling me that low carb diets are dangerous. My cholesterol is low, my energy is high, my BMI is spot on. Whatever works for you is to be encouraged, but don’t say my approach doesn’t work.

Was a tad late on the uptake for Chino’s (35yrs) however, now addicted! We talk about staple colours often but personally unless you have a specific outfit in mind, it really depends what else you have in your wardrobe. It can be great experimenting and rewarding to hit a killer combo outfit unexpected. I would advise pay a much smaller amount ( relatively speaking ) and pick up colours that slightly push your comfort zone alongside those standard ‘stone and tan’. You’ll quickly find a colour palette that you gravitate towards and what is compatible with your other pieces. Once you have locked down what you actually use often then go crazy, buy the best you can afford and replace. The point is you’ll probably be surprised what ‘Your staple colours’ actually are._ First post.

Always loved Bulldog products and accidentally discovered the beard shampoo, one of the best purchases I’ve made, beard feels better, less itchy and skin nowhere near as dry. I think Waitrose have an offer on all Bulldog products at the moment too.

I respect your opinion, I think instead that my feet if groomed appropriately are just fine. It’s possible that a more traditional image of man is one with all skin covered, as if it communicates wholesomeness.
But even that is relative, Cary Grant looked great in shorts even in his 50’s and beyond.
Feet are probably taboos, as probably linked to some kinds of fetish, so some people, especially guys maybe would only want to see them associated to women.
Point is such feet are ugly if not groomed and, well, much more dust and rocks penetrate than in city and if that was the case, that would apply to women as well.

Might I add a point about ties – I’ve started using some alternate knots to the classic Windsor and, well, it does get noticed positively which is nice. Also, since it requires a little bit of effort in the morning there’s no copycats.

Based on online reading I purchased tester samples of Gorgio Armani’s Acqua Di Gio Profumo, Gentlemen Only Eau de Toilet by Givenchy and Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme by Chanel, and Mr. Burberry.

My order of preference ended up:
1). Acqua Di Gio Profumo <– I purchased this one
2). Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme
3). Mr. Burberry
4). Gentlemen Only

Hi Jack,
If you already have a good barber whom you see regularly, then I’d recommend saving some of the pictures from this article on your phone and showing them to him/her. Between that and asking for a quiff (a term with which most in-the-know barbers should be familiar), you should be good to go.
As for product, I personally use a hairdryer, Hanz de Fuko Quicksand, and a good hairspray.
